holding deposit

A prospective renter pays a holding deposit for the manager or landlord to hold the apartment for him. If the renter chooses not to enter into the rental/lease agreement after the renter's rental application has been approved, the renter must understand that the holding deposit will not be returned. In the event that application for tenancy is not accepted by Noble Places, the holding deposit will be returned to the prospective renter.
